This research note introduces Scriptural Realism, a theological framework proposed recently by Dele A. Ilesanmi, “Scriptural Realism: A Theo-Theoretical Framework for a Scripture-Governed Ontology, Epistemology, and Research Paradigm in Biblical Research Studies,” that establishes divine revelation as the supreme foundation for biblical research. The author critiques empiricism, rationalism, and constructivism, arguing that while these secular methodologies offer useful tools for observation and logic, they are fundamentally incapable of originating or determining spiritual truth. Instead, the source advocates for a revelation-governed epistemology where the Bible serves as the final arbiter of reality and the primary source of valid knowledge. By reorienting academic inquiry towards a Christocentric methodology, the framework ensures that research is governed by Scripture rather than human experience or social consensus. Finally, the work asserts that true understanding begins with faith and God’s self-disclosure rather than mere human discovery.
